Today we are going to show you part number A30901 from SportRack. This is their 2 bicycle rack designed for 1 1/4 inch receivers and 2 inch receiver hitches. Now for the 1 1/4 inch receiver it does have to be a class 2 hitch. First up we have to install it on our 2 inch receiver hitch. Instead of a hitch pin it comes with a bolt. You pull this pin out and it just unscrews like a normal bolt. Then you just slide it in aligning the holes before you reinstall the bolt. You go ahead and tighten it down with a 3/4 inch wrench. This bolt acts like a anti rattle device that makes the entire thing one solid assembly now. Okay once we have our bolt installed we will install our safety pin just to make sure if it comes loose it will not come all the way out. A second bike is what we are going to put on next. Notice that the second bike is a smaller frame then the first bike so that you can see the adjustability of the bike rack. The ability to adjust the 2 separate hooks to fit the different frames is a pretty handy thing. You put the wheels in the wheel wells first then make any adjustments that you need to before pulling your hook over and locking it into place. Once you get your bicycle rack unpacked from the box, these will be the pieces you'll end up with. The shank assembly that will slide into the hitch. Which will come with a 2 inch adapter if you have a 2 inch receiver hitch, it will come with the body of the bicycle carrier with 3 arms on it, the wheel mounts and two clamps that will hold the bikes down to the bicycle rack. We'll go ahead and start assembling the rack first off to see how it works. First off we're going to start with the shank, in this case we are going to use the 2 inch adapter for the 2 inch receiver hitch. Once you have that shank installed into the hitch, next thing is you want to install the pin that holds it in place to keep from moving around. Once you have the shank installed lets go ahead and install the main body that will hold the rest of the rack up. We'll grab that part and the two bolts that hold that in place. Next what we'll do is install the clamps onto the racks that will hold the bikes down. Depending on the bicycle frame you may have to flip them around or upside down, front to rear to accommodate the frames of your bikes. We'll put them on in the generic pattern today.
